Last year, Mrs. Richmond's 4th grade students competed in National History Day. These were our top 3 finishers. This week, their boards will make their way to Helena for the Montana History Conference, where they will be judged among other 4th and 5th grade posters from across the state. Let's wish these ladies the best of luck!

This week, 4th graders heard a story about the Iniskim, also known as the Buffalo Stone, which is sacred to the Blackfeet people. According to the story, a woman heard singing that led her to the Iniskim, a stone that helped her call the buffalo back to her starving people. The stone became a powerful symbol of spiritual connection to the land and survival. One of our students shared his very own Iniskim with the class! His dad found it while hiking along the Missouri River. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect to our local area and learn about the rich history and traditions of the Blackfeet people. We're so grateful for these incredible moments of sharing and learning.

What an inspiring day for our Choir and Music students! A huge thank you to our wonderful guest speaker, Ms. Sheila, for sharing your wisdom and passion. Students not only learned about the many career paths music can offer and the unique experiences of small vs. large school programs, but also had the special opportunity to perform for her. We are so grateful for your time and encouragement!

Welcome Mrs. Henneberry

1. What is your current role(s) at Sunburst Schools?
I teach high school FCS and Art as well as Elementary Library. I am also the FCCLA Coach.

2. What previous teaching, coaching, or other extracurricular activities have you been involved with, if any, at previous schools and how many years of experience do you have?
Previously I have been a substitute teacher at Pine Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility, Helena Community College, and Washington Middle School in Missoula. I also taught Election Judge training for Broadwater County and I worked at a daycare/preschool. In high school I was in X-country, Tennis, Speech & Drama, Booster Club, was a tutor for After School Tutoring, and was involved in children's ministry both during the school year and the summer (which continued into adulthood).

3. Give us a brief history to include where you are from, where you were born, where you graduated from high school, and where you graduated from college?
I was born in Illinois, but was raised in Eastern Montana (Ismay). I went to High School in Townsend, MT. I attended and received degrees at three seperate colleges; Miles City Community College, Helena College of Technology, and most recently the University of Montana.

4. Tell us about your family, spouse, or significant other.
I am recently remarried, as of 2024. My husband is Joel whom I met while we were both participating in our local theatre in Townsend. We have two lovely children, from my first marriage. Leah and Lucas, my Star Wars babies.

5. Do you have any pets?
We have a dog named Aspen, a cat named G.R., and our newest addition us beta fish named Ursula.

6. What are some of your hobbies and interests?
My children would say that cleaning is my hobby, but everyone else would say reading. I however would say my favorite hobby is singing and acting.

7. Are there any other interesting tidbits you want to share about yourself?
I was in the United States Army, stationed in Alaska and served in Iraq. While in high school I started my own floral business which was flourishing until I left for Basic Training. I also had my own Interior Design business.
