The 5th grade received a grant from Donors Choose donors that funded the purchase of many picture books to read aloud to the 5th grade students. A great picture book is enjoyable at any age, and to share the wonderful stories, the 5th grade students are then reading them to the younger grades. Everyone gets to enjoy them!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sunburst Schools will he having a Pink Night! We encourage everyone to wear pink to support and honor breast cancer survivors, fighters, and remember those that have been lost.
Refiner Football Gameday & Senior Night
Tonight, October 9th, at 6pm, the Refiner Football team hosts St. Patrick's Academy with a 6pm kickoff! This will be the final home football game of the year!
The Refiners will also be honoring senior football players Tanner Heaton, Michael Miller, Tony Tank, and manager/cross country runner Gabe Bouttier.

Sixth grade students were busy in the Science Lab learning about rocks that are in the Grand Canyon! They had to be geologists and study the rocks to determine what kind they were! They also performed a hydrochloric acid test on the rocks just like geologists do!
Third graders turned into budding scientists — and maybe a few magicians — as they explored the world of forces and magnets. Through hands-on experiments, they discovered what really happens when opposites attract and similarities push away!

Refiner VB Update!
There will be NO MATCH on Saturday, October 11, 2025, against Heart Butte. It is cancelled and will be considered a forfeit.

4th graders started this lesson by studying a Winter Count made by Medicine Bear, a chief of the Yanktonai Dakota (Sioux). Winter Counts helped bands keep track of their history. Each symbol represents a particular year.
Traditionally, women and girls would scrape and tan a hide, and the record keeper, usually a man, would draw the symbols. Hides were large, so they could hold a lot of information. But they were also strong and easy to roll up for traveling.
Later, winter counts were drawn on fabric or painting.
These 4th graders studied a timeline of the history of the Northern Cheyenne and then drew their own interpretation of some of the events. Here's what they came up with!!
