The 5th grade started out the first day of school learning science lab rules with a fun cloud experiment! Our year is off to a great start!
Fourth grade began learning about historical thinking skills that we'll be busy using all year long!
They started by analyizing primary sources from their teachers's life to develop their own understanding of who she is!

Fourth grade's annual BOOK TASTING CAFE was a success!!
New genres were discovered and Accelerated Reader books were chosen!

Sunburst Schools is rolling out a new way to provide communication and information between students, teachers, coaches, and parents! This new tool utilizes our Sunburst Schools App (Android/Apple free download).
Parents should have received an invite with a link to register for this new information and communication platform This invite will provide a link to our new platform. If you are having issues, the URL link below will provide more information to assist parents and guide them through the process of registering and being setup to receive important communication. If you did not receive an invite, one will hopefully be coming soon! You can also utilize your mobile number and likely have access to this new tool.
We appreciate your patience as we expect some challenges as we transition to this new communication platform, but we are excited about the opportunity for all communication and school information to be available in one simple phone app!

The Refiner and Wildcat football teams travel to White Sulphur Springs for games today, Friday, August 28. The Wildcats play at 4pm. Kickoff for the Refiner game is at 6pm!

Sunburst Schools Football Co-Op
Sunburst Schools is extremely excited to be in a football cooperative with Milk River Ridge School out of Milk River, Alberta, Canada! Students from Sunburst Schools and Milk River Ridge School will be teaming up as Refiners (grades 9-12) and Wildcats (grades 5-8) on the football field this season!
This incredible partnership took some time to develop as it required approval from each school as well as multiple agencies including the Montana High School Association and Sports School Alberta. Athletic Director Jeff Nix from Sunburst and Athletic Director Lara Johannsen from Milk River Ridge worked tirelessly to develop this awesome opportunity for our kids!
Thank you to Mr. Nix, Superintendent Bucklin, Coach Bye, Mrs. Johannsen, Principal Miller, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Canadian Border Services Agency for your assistance in bringing this awesome opportunity together for our students.
From our knowledge, this is the only partnership like this that exists in Montana. We do not know whether there are other state/provincial teams across the northern border, but we are incredibly excited about this co-op between our schools for the good of our kids!
Thus, at all future football games, we proudly welcome our neighbors from the north as we hopefully cheer our boys to victory!

The Refiner and Wildcat teams have their first game tonight, Thursday, August 27, in Sunburst vs. North Star! The Wildcats play at 5pm followed by the Refiners girls 20 minutes later (around 6pm).

Refiner Football Schedule Change!
The Refiner football schedule underwent some changes as some 6 man teams from around the state were unable to field teams this year.
The new schedule is below. Please note that our first game will be at White Sulphur Springs on Friday, August 28th, at 6pm. Our first home game will be on Saturday, September 12th, 2026, vs. Noxon at 6pm.
