Seventh through tenth graders spent a beautiful day in Ulm, MT! We hiked from the First Peoples Buffalo Jump visitors center up to the Buffalo Jump, played Shinny and learned how to throw arrows with atlatls! We could not have had a more beautiful spring day in Montana.

We are three meets in to our track and field season! We will be competing twice this week. We will be in Choteau and Power on Thursday and in Shelby on Saturday. Come out and watch us this weekend! So far this season we have had 23 athletes compete hard and earn multiple PRs! A few highlights from the season include a new school record in long jump from Claire; an exciting Unified relay with Audrey, Claire, Ali and Centerville athletes; and Claire has already pre-qualified for State in the 100H, 300H and long jump. Keep it up Refiners!

7th-10th grade students will be attending a required PE/Health field trip tomorrow at the First Peoples Buffalo Jump in Ulm, MT. Lunch is provided. Please make sure you are at the school by 8am with a water bottle and your permission slip if you have not yet turned it in.

JH Meet Cancelled The JH Track Meet on April 19 in Shelby has been cancelled.

Important Track and Field Update: The high school Choteau Twilight track meet scheduled for tomorrow, April 18 has been postponed to next Thursday, April 25th. We plan to attend this meet, but we will make sure to be back for students to have sufficient time to prepare for the Spring Music Concert!

First Graders celebrated Beach Day on Monday! We explored a tide pool and the creatures that live there, enjoyed reading on the "beach" and measured how many first graders fit on a whale!

2nd graders had a great time finding examples of Weathering and Erosion around the school!

Lunch Menu Change Due to product supply issues, our lunch menu will change for Monday, April 15th, to Potato & Ham Hot Dish. Wednesday, April 17th, will be changed to Italian Dunkers.

MCT - Final Performance Everyone has one last chance to come and see the Missoula Children's Theater evening performance of Treasure Island at 6pm at the NTCHS Auditorium. Approximately 45 students ranging from Kindergarten-12th grade did a great job during their matinee performance and would love to have a full house tonight!

MCT Parents Please remember that your child will need the following items for tomorrow, Friday, April 12th! 1. A non-messy lunch with water 2. A pair of shorts and possibly an undershirt to wear under their costume 3. A pair of socks 4. Shoes (not boots) 5. Their script (if they have one) Students will be at the NTC Auditorium starting at 9am to get their costumes and do their dress rehearsal. The matinee performance begins at 1pm and the evening performance will be at 6pm.

Student of the Month The Sunburst Schools March 2024 Student of the Month was recognized at the April Sunburst School Board Meeting. The high school student of the month was senior Claire Bucklin. Mrs. Kerfoot shared the staffs' reasoning for nominating Claire and why they felt she was a worthy candidate to be recognized. The board commended Claire for her great efforts. She will receive a certificate for being named Student of the Month.

Sunburst Schools is excited to announce that the NTCHS Science Students and the JH Science Students each won 1st Place in the small school division at the Montana Science Fair in Missoula! Great job to all students and staff on continuing the outstanding science tradition at Sunburst Schools!

Does your child like to pretend, sing, and have fun acting out parts with their friends? We have a week of activities for them to use that natural talent. Missoula Children's Theater MCT begins next Monday, April 8, 2024. All students in K-12 are encouraged to participate! All K-6 students must have a permission slip turned in by Friday by 2:30 pm to participate (please contact the office if you need one). Tryouts will be on Monday from 1:30-3:30 pm. After tryouts, students will be given information on their practice times for the remainder of the week. Depending on the part students are selected to play, a small group of students may be asked to stay for a practice session from 3:45-5:45 pm that evening. The practice times for Tuesday-Thursday will be different from in the past. We will have two rehearsal times. The first rehearsal daily will be from 1:30-3:30, and the second rehearsal will be from 3:45-5:45. All rehearsals will be at the high school. Performance day is Friday, April 12th, with a matinee at 1pm and an evening show at 6pm.
