Sunburst Schools

Thanks to the Toole County Conservation District and the MSU Extension Office for sharing their knowledge with the 4th grade class! They learned about the Golden Triangle, the different types of wheat, what different things the wheat makes, and even started growing their own! Next week, they'll be back to help the kids grind the wheat and make their own bread!

Easter Break Sunburst Schools will not have school from Friday, April 18 through Tuesday, April 22., 2025 Hopefully everyone has a wonderful 5 day long weekend!

4th grade read the novel "Hattie Big Sky" this year and dove into the life of a homesteader. Our classroom was transformed over the weekend to enhance our learning. So far, students have worked through stations of primary source documents to learn what life would have been like for many in the late 1800s, and each became a homesteader in a simulation to see if they could "prove up" in 5 years. The excitement or disappointment on their faces tells the story of their fortune. My, oh, my, what will tomorrow bring for these 4th grade honyockers?!?

HS Track Meet Cancellation The high school track meet in Cut Bank on Thursday, April 17, 2025, has been cancelled due to weather.

Missoula Children's Theater Sunburst Schools was fortunate to have Missoula Children's Theater visit us during the week of April 7-11, 2025 to put on the show "Rumpelstiltskin." The student cast did an awesome job performing at the 1:00pm matinee and the 6:00pm evening show!

Student of the Month The Sunburst Schools March 2025 Students of the Month were recognized at the April Sunburst School Board Meeting. The high school student of the month was Sophomore Audrey Myzie. The junior high student of the month was 8th grader Jill Taylor. The elementary student of the month was 3rd grader Molly Clark. Mr. Nix and Mr. Dunk shared the staffs' reasoning for nominating these students and why the staff felt they were worthy candidates to be recognized. The board commended Audrey, Jill, and Molly for their great efforts. The students that were present had their picture taken with the board. The students will receive a certificate for being named Student of the Month.

Thanks to our Missoula Children's Theatre directors for taking our K-2 students on an imaginary adventure to rescue a baby sea turtle! We have some excited kids eager to present Rumpelstiltskin to you on Friday at 1 p.m and 6 p.m.!

FCS Leadership students and FCCLA members are putting on a fun and FREE community event! Come out and enjoy the company of our wonderful neighbors on the evening of Tuesday, April 22nd. There will be burgers, hot dogs, sides and drinks served. We'll be playing music and there is an optional fun run too! You can choose to do the 5K starting at 5:30pm, or a track mile that will begin at 5:35pm. Then enjoy a great meal afterwards!

The 3rd graders got tricked this April Fool's Day Tuesday with a "Following Directions" test. It would have been a quick solve had they just, well, followed directions! But in the end, they got some "brown E's". Followed by the real deal, of course!
