Sunburst Science Fair
The Sunburst Science Fair was held today, February 28, 2024, in the NTCHS Auditorium with a total of 26 projects being presented from students in 6th-8th grade. Special thanks to the amazing 21 judges that came and evaluated projects!
After judging, the final results were: 3rd Place -- Lillian Sudbrock; 2nd Place -- Raya Sagnella; 1st Place -- Coco Bucklin. The "Snaz It Up" award went to Cheyenne Miller and Kaley Sandon.
We are pleased to announce that 21 student projects will be moving on to participate in the Regional Science Fair in Great Falls on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.





The Junior High Science Fair is happening now! If you would like to see some of the fine work these 6-8th graders have been doing, stop by the high school before 3 today!

JH science fair TOMORROW- February 28th! The public is welcome to come any time after 1:00, but the students will be getting judged, so please be mindful of this! The students have been hard at work to finalize their projects!

Reminder - Kiddie Kollege starts up again this week on Tuesday at 10:30. We can't wait to see your Kollege students!


This week in the FCS classroom students helped to set up grow lights, our vermicompost bin and our new garden tower. Now we can compost our food scraps in the classroom. Soon we will plant seeds in the garden tower. Later this spring we will cook with the food the students grow!



The Sunburst Schools January 2024 Students of the Month were 10th grade student Gabe Bouttier and 6th grade student Raya Sagnella. Although these students were unable to attend the February board meeting to be officially recognized, the board still commended the students for their great efforts. Gabe and Raya will receive certificates for being named Student of the Month.

National STEM Champion
Sunburst Schools is proud to announce that Nikki Nau, senior at NTCHS, has been named a National STEM Champion and has earned an all-expense paid trip to Washington, DC, to participate and present at the inaugural National STEM Festival on April 13, 2024. Nikki was chosen as 1 of only 126 total 6th-12th grade students from throughout the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories to participate in this prestigious festival.
The STEM Festival is presented by the US Department of Education and EXPLR as well as numerous other partners. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Please check out the links below for more information.

Lady Refiners conclude their season as they lose to the Simms Tigers 48-31.


Refiner boys finish their season with a hard fought loss to Valier 47-45.


The Lady Refiners lost to Heart Butte 37-29. They will play in loser out action on Friday at 5:30pm.


Happy Valentine's Day from 1st grade!










Refiner boys lose to Dutton/Brady 57-13. They will play tomorrow at 1pm.


Pep Assembly
A pep assembly was held today to pump up the Refiner basketball teams as they begin district tournament action today. All K-12 students participated in the assembly led by Mrs Asschim. The Refiner boys play Dutton/Brady at 1pm. The Lady Refiners take on Heart Butte tonight at 7pm. Good luck Refiners.

Congratulations to Avani Champaneria on winning 4th place at the regional Poetry Out Loud contest in Great Falls. Having received high marks on her recitation of two poems at the regional level, Avani will now memorize a third poem which she will deliver at the state competition in Helena on March 2nd. Other Poetry Out Loud competitors from Sunburst included Curtis Bouttier, Gabe Bouttier, and Dylan Bye, who each presented two poems from memory at today’s competition.

Sunburst Schools will not have school on Friday, February 16th due to District Basketball Tournaments. Sunburst Schools will also not have school on Monday, February 19th in observance of the Presidents Day Holiday. Enjoy the 4 day weekend!
