Monday, Sept. 12, Breakfast Change
Because of supply issues, breakfast on Monday will now be pancakes on a stick.

Students learned about solid and liquid states of matter and the different melting points of materials. Then they investigated to determine which types of candy melt in hot water.

Breakfast Change for Sept. 8
Due to supply chain issues, breakfast tomorrow will be calzones.

4th graders learned how to detect acids using baking soda which fizzes when mixed with acids, or a special liquid that changes color when mixed with acids. Students then used those methods to identify common foods like pickle juice or ketchup that are acidic!

Can you really fry an egg on a hot sidewalk? Third grade investigated this question by testing the insulating and conducting properties of different materials.

No School
Sunburst Schools will not have school on Monday, September 5, 2022, in celebration of Labor Day!

Breakfast Change
On Tuesday, Sept. 6, breakfast will NOT be apple strudel. Instead it will be banana bread. Apple strudel will be moved to Thursday, Sept. 8 (in place of banana bread).

Third grade explored different properties of materials used for clothing today such as texture, flexibility, and absorbency. Then the students used that information to design and build a hat that protects them from the sun. They imagined being stranded on an island and only having the items in a lunch box to create the hat!

The seventh grade science class took advantage of the sunny weather and conducted their experiments outside.

Today, the high school pep band worked on their marching skills. They looked and sounded great 😊

In today's 4th grade science lesson, students met the alchemists, a historic group that used "potions" to try and transform materials. Students tested liquids to see which ones would clean the tarnish off a penny. Then, when one penny changed from dark and dirty to bright and shiny, they had a chance to think about where the tarnish went!

Mrs. Smith was busy teaching her junior high explorations class some sewing basics today. They were practicing sewing straight and curvy lines.

Custodial Opening
Sunburst Schools is looking to fill a full-time custodial position. This position requires a detail oriented person that would be able to work without supervision to thoroughly clean all aspects of the school. This person, at times, may need to lift more than 40 pounds. Hours of employment would be either prior to 8am or after 3pm which can be determined at a later date.
Please contact Superintendent Tyler Bucklin at either 406-937-2816 or tbucklin@sunburst.k12.mt.us
