
Congratulations to Nikki Nau on her 5th place state finish in the 3200m run!!! She ran a speedy new personal record, breaking her school record again, with a time of 12:00.57



Congratulations to Connor Sullivan on his 6th place finish in the 100m dash!!! His best time of the weekend was 11.38!



On the last day of elementary school, Sunburst Jr. High gave the seventh grade students a warm welcome.
We're looking forward to growing with you over the next six years.


End of Year Awards Assembly
Sunburst Elementary held their end of the year awards assembly to honor students for their great accomplishments. Students received awards from their teachers, attendance awards, math awards, poppy poster and essay winners, million word club members, and more.
Special thanks to the VFW Auxiliary for their continued support of our poppy poster and Americanism essays. Northern Telephone Cooperative generously donated orange canvas bags with drink cups, notebooks, and pens for all students that completed a poppy poster. In addition, the Toole County Health Department generously donated a Frisbee to every student to get kids energized and active over the summer. Safe Driving Challenge
Congratulations to the group of Jasper Manthey, Ali Nau, and Miranda Kessler as they were the winners of the Toole County Safe Driving Challenge. Their video received the most likes and shares and earned them $500.


Mrs. Richmond -- Montana History Teacher of the Year!
Sunburst Schools is ecstatic to congratulate Mrs. Hali Richmond as she was selected as the winner of the 34th Annual Montana Statehood Centennial Bell Award honoring the Montana History Teacher of the Year at the 4th-6th grade level. As the winner, she will receive $4500 in total to be utilized for the future purchase of Montana history materials, speakers, field trips, and/or anything else that will enhance the learning experience in her classroom.
Mrs. Richmond and her class will visit Helena on November 8, 2023, (state day) where she will receive her award. At 10:40am, the exact time Montana became a state back in 1889, Mrs. Richmond and her class will ring the Montana Statehood Centennial Bell.


3rd Grade Field Trip
The 3rd grade class had an awesome trip to Great Falls today. They went to Giant Springs in the morning and visited the CM Russell Museum in the afternoon.











Last Day of School
Our last day of school will be tomorrow, May 25, 2023! We will have a noon release with buses running at that time.


Volleyball Camp forms are going home today! Coach Buck and Coach Richmond are looking forward to an awesome summer and fall volleyball season! If you have any questions please reach out to either of us!



4th Grade Visits Happy Steer Ranch
Our 4th grade class had the opportunity to visit Happy Steer Ranch yesterday where they learned about the entire process of raising a cow until it becomes the meat on our table. Special thanks to Willow Wieskamp who shared all of her knowledge and expertise with our students.







MSU-Northern Basketball Camp

Kindergarten Train Trip
Today the kindergarten class went on their annual train trip. The students were excited about this new experience. After arriving in Shelby, they ate lunch and played in the park. They were excited, but tired, to ride the Refiner bus home.









7-12 Grade Band Parents: Please be on the lookout for our NTC Band Camp form! Band camp will take place July 10-11 from 9:00 am-11:00 am. This is a great opportunity for students to get their hands on their instruments and get ahead for the 2023-24 school year! We will then March in the All School Reunion Parade on Saturday, July 15th!

Town Clean Up
Today the students and staff of Sunburst Schools went around town cleaning up trash. As part of beautifying our community, we also planted trees as part of a late Arbor Day celebration. Winslow Nichols Leadership Award
Congrats to Nikki Nau as the winner of the Winslow Nichols Leadership Award. This award is to recognize a student who values their education by exhibiting academic responsibility, who displays integrity, compassion, service and excellence, who nurtures healthy communities through community service, volunteering and other contributions, as well as takes initiative and are role models for others.
Logan Health came to present the award today. Nikki was nominated by Mrs. Richmond.
Logan Health was also kind enough to bring all 7-11 students donuts!






Ag Day 2023
The 3rd/4th grade students from Sunburst Elementary and the students from Galata Elementary had the opportunity to participate in Ag Days on Friday, May 19th.
Special thanks to all of the presenters that came and shared their time and talents with our students. The lessons were fun and informative!









8th Grade Promotion
The 8th grade promotional ceremony will be held this Wednesday, 5/24, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Cake and punch will be served following the ceremony. Please join us in celebrating the class of 2027 as they mark the transition from junior high to high school!

Town Clean Up!
All of the students and staff from Sunburst Schools will be participating in helping to clean up the Town of Sunburst on Monday, May 22nd in the afternoon.
Please send your children to school with some work gloves so they will be ready to beautify our community!


Refiner Track & Field
Congrats to the Lady Refiners who brought home a 3rd place trophy at the Northern C Divisional Meet.
Claire Bucklin, Nikki Nau, Connor Sullivan, and Ian Benjamin will advance to state in Laurel next week.
Coach Ehlers and Coach Smith were very proud of their Refiner teams efforts.
