JHBB Games Update
The Sunburst Junior High Wildcat Basketball teams have two games scheduled this week.
Thursday, October 26 vs. North Star at Sunburst: 4:00 - Boys B; 5:15 - Girls A with a 5th Quarter; 6:45 - Boys A
Friday, October 27 at Cascade: 3:00 - Boys B; 4:15 - Girls A; 5:30 - Boys A
We had a great time celebrating Halloween with our Kiddie Kollege students today! Happy Halloween!









The FCS students made some delicious and creative "Baymax" hot cocoa today! Well done!







Students and staff celebrated our cross country team in a big way today! Senior Trevon McKinley and freshman Wyatt Rogers (purportedly of 99.9 The Burst) hosted the events, interviewing coaches Jeff Nix and Shayle Ehlers and members of the boys' and girls' teams. Following the celebration, all students and staff enjoyed cupcakes baked by Kris Ryan and Val McAlpine and decorated by freshmen Victoria Carlisle and Makila Calfrobe. Thank you to all the students and staff who made this a special event, and congratulations to our cross country coaches and athletes!







State Trophy XC Assembly
On Monday, October 23rd, at 3pm, there will be an assembly in the NTC Gymnasium to recognize the state girls' cross country team as they finished 3rd at state!
All girls and boys cross country runners will be recognized for their efforts!
Parents and community members are invited to come and celebrate our Refiner runners!

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week will be taking place from Oct. 23-Oct. 27, 2023. The theme this year is "Be Kind to Your Mind: Live Drug Free."
The elementary will be celebrating the week with the dress-up days listed below.

Tues., 10-24 "Lei off drugs" - Dress in Hawaiian attire/Leisure attire

The Refiner XC teams made us proud today!
The boys ran hard and finished in the top 13 as a team. Ian had the highest finish in 37th place. Congrats boys!
The girls team, after two years of dedicated training, earned themselves a big beautiful state trophy! The girls finished in third place as a team, only three points behind the both the second and first place teams. Nikki finished 4th and Claire finished in 9th earning their own personal medals and the title of All-State. Way to go girls!
We are super proud of these gritty tough racers! Go Big Red!










Refiner Volleyball District Tournament
The Refiner Volleyball team will be competing in District 6C West volleyball action next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 26 - 28, in Belt. This is a double elimination tournament.
The Lady Refiners will enter tourney action as the #7 seed and will first play in Match #4 vs. Simms at approximately 3:30pm.
For admission, no regular season passes will be accepted. The cost will be: $10 – Adult; $8 – Senior/Student.

Bats aren't the only ones! 1st Grade explored deeper into the bat cave and discovered troglobites, creatures that never leave their cave habitat. Whether it was spelunking for vocabulary or troglobites, flipping bats for math or writing about their favorite troglobite creature, 1st grade thoroughly enjoyed their Bat Cave experience!







6th graders had fun trying to decipher each other's cuneiform writings.

Refiner Football Senior Night
The Refiner senior football players will be playing their final game at home on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2023, at 7:00pm.
Refiner seniors are: Trevon McKinley, Curtis Bouttier, Riccardo Monaca, and Carter Enneberg.

It's that time of year... FCCLA is selling wreaths again! I know we're in the midst of Halloween and fall fun, but FCCLA will be selling Christmas wreaths until November 3rd. Orders will be placed early so you can receive your beautiful holiday wreaths just after Thanksgiving. Please consider ordering an evergreen decoration from one of our awesome FCCLA members. 1st Graders did several activities finishing up their bat nonfiction unit in their very own bat cave!





Flu Shots
The Toole County Health Department will be visiting Sunburst Schools on Tuesday, October 17, from 9:00-11:30am to give flu shots. Forms were sent home with students last week. If you are interested in having your child get a flu shot, please send back the form with your child.

No School Oct. 18-20, 2023
Students will not have school Wednesday, October 18 through Friday, October 20, because of the Teacher MEA Convention. We hope everyone enjoys the five day weekend.

Picture Day!
Tuesday, October 17, 2023, is picture retake day and junior high basketball picture day. Lindsay Sandon Photo + Design will be handling all picture taking duties.
If you would like to have picture retakes, please send back your picture packet or contact Lindsay Sandon.
Junior high boys and girls basketball pictures will also be taken on Oct. 17. Please make sure students bring their uniform and basketball gear.

No Kiddie Kollege on Wednesday, October 18th as there is no school. We will meet again on Wednesday, October 25th for our Halloween Party!
