Fine motor practice in Kindergarten!
Third grade students are starting their novel "The Orphan of Ellis Island" to learn about immigration. To introduce the novel, students had to investigate artifacts in a trunk to guess the significance of each item in the story. As we read, the true meaning behind each item will be revealed!
The Refiners faced off against the Heart Butte Warriors and the Valier Panthers tonight! The Refiners were on fire with a 3-0 sweep against both teams! 🏐

Fourth grade is beginning a new science unit, Energy. We will investigate energy,
build electric circuits powered by D-cells (flashlight batteries), and explore electromagnetism, light, collisions, and waves. All our experiences will build an understanding that energy is evident when there is motion, electric current, sound, light, or heat, and that energy can travel from place to place. This week's investigation focused on answering the focus questions, "What is needed to light a bulb?"
Third grade are studying physics and chemistry in a new unit, Motion
and Matter. We will be studying forces and what happens
when they are balanced and unbalanced. This week's investigation explored the questions, "What happens when magnets interact with other magnets and with paper clips?"
Third grade students used interactive google slides this week to practice identifying the continents on a map as well as learn fun new information about each continent!
The NTC cross country team had some great results and personal bests at the Kalispell Invite today.
1st graders had fun learning and practicing the scientific method today!
5th and 6th grades have art on Friday each week. Today the 5th grade explored their new paint sets by making swatches and mixed medium art pieces. The 6th grade took their paints outdoors to create some wonderful work!

The FCS kitchen is open! The Foods, Nutrition and Wellness students made oatmeal cookies this week!
Picture the high school school librarian, behind the camera, rubbing her hands together. "My plan to create an enjoyable lunchtime study/reading center is coming together."
7th and 8th graders got to take a trip to Great Falls to tour the Paris Gibson Square Museum of Art. After the tour, they got the chance to recreate one of the artists' work, Sean Chandler, in their own way. Obviously, they got really into it, as their dirty hands can show!
