For the last 2 weeks, 4th grade has been participating in Operation Christmas Child. The mission of this program is to demonstrate love in a tangible way to children in need around the world. We started out agreeing to collect items for two children, but because our 4th grade families were so generous and eager to help out we ended up helping four children instead! Items included in the shoeboxes were things such as toothbrushes, hair brushes, school supplies, little gifts, and handwritten notes from each student. Our hearts are full. Thank you so much to parents that helped with this project!

5th/6th First Quarter Incentive Day! Our 5th/6th graders are a 1st quarter incentive trip if they have good academic standing, good attendance, and exhibit good behavioral choices. All of our students earned this opportunity! Today our 5th/6th graders were supposed to go bowling. Unfortunately, the bowling alley canceled on us this morning (we will reschedule). Instead, we went to the Early Bird for ice cream and played games.

During 4th grade science, students used sugar cubes as a model for rocks to answer the question, "Will a mountain last forever?" They performed an experiment with this model to understand the process of weathering and how this process explains why rocks at the tops of mountains are jagged, while those at the bottom are rounded.
