Covid-19-Please refer to the District Webpage for the Reopening Plan for our school. Also, refer the the District Webpage for the most up to date information pertaining to Covid-19.
The school day begins at 8:15 A.M. You may drop your off child prior to this time, but no earlier than 8 A.M. There will be an adult present to monitor the playground from 8 A.M. until 8:15 A.M. The kindergarteners will line up by the south school entrance behind the letter K. School dismisses at 3:30 P.M. on Monday through Thursday. Dismissal is at 2:30 P.M. on Fridays. When you drop off or pick up your child, please refrain from entering the building or lingering on the playground.
A successful school experience is the responsibility of the children, the parent and the school. Your child's progress, both academically and socially, is influenced to a great extent by daily participation. Regular attendance without tardiness is important. However, with the current pandemic, it is highly encouraged that your child stay at home if they are sick. This will help your child to recuperate and limit the spread of any illness.
Please send a backpack with your child to school every day. This will assist in getting items to and from school.
In order to help your child carry messages, information, completed daily work, and homework to and from school, your child will receive a folder. Your child is required to bring this folder home and return it to school each day. Please look through these folders everyday. Be positive and value the work your child has done at school.
Once we get into a steady routine within the regular classroom setting, your child will be bringing homework home. This homework should take no more than five minutes. Your child should complete this work by themselves, under your supervision, and return it the next school day! Completing and returning homework helps build a sense of responsibility and prepares him or her for the homework that will need to be completed in later school years. Generally, homework will be given every day except for Friday (or the last day of the week). Look for the folder that has Homework written on it. This will be your child’s homework for the evening. For every five days your child returns their completed homework, they will earn a prize from the treasure box.
Your child may purchase breakfast and lunch from the school. Your child may bring lunch money to school in an envelope marked with their name and lunch money on the outside. If you are interested in applying for Free and Reduced Meals, the proper forms are available on the school website. These forms need to be returned to Mr. Nau.
Please do NOT send any toys/gadgets from home unless it is a Show & Tell day. This will help prevent any items from being lost or misplaced.
The school will supply daily afternoon snacks and milk for our kindergarteners. However, we need help from you to supply the children with morning snacks. We prefer to keep the snacks as healthy as possible. IF POSSIBLE, please send snacks that are individually packaged to limit the teacher’s hand contact with the food items. Some excellent snack examples include but are not limited to: vanilla wafers, fruit snacks, teddy grahams, animal crackers, goldfish, cheez-its, graham crackers, or pretzels.
Birthdays are special occasions for young children. If your child wishes, he or she may bring a treat for the class. If your child has a summer birthday, we can celebrate their summer birthday during the last few weeks of school. Contact me to arrange this ahead of time. Please do not distribute birthday party invitations at school unless everyone in the class is invited. Also, please do not send extravagant gifts such as balloons or flowers to the school, as this may cause a distraction.
Show & Tell Schedule
Your child is welcome to bring in an item of their choice, such as a toy, to share with their classmates. Their item must be able to fit into their backpack. It will remain in their backpack all throughout the day until it is time to share it with the class. If your child is absent or if their Show & Tell day falls on a day that school is not in session, then they will wait until the following week to bring in an item.
